Brendan Bowman, MD

Vice President, Medical Affairs 

Brendan Bowman, MD, is vice president of medical affairs at DaVita Kidney Care. At DaVita, Dr. Bowman leads dialysis quality and safety efforts and is the physician executive for the Patient Safety Organization (PSO). He is a board-certified nephrologist with an interest in quality improvement in all phases of kidney disease. Prior to his career in medicine, Dr. Bowman worked in management consulting serving various federal and private sector clients. 

After graduating from medical school at the University of Maryland, Dr. Bowman completed residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia (UVA) where he stayed on as a clinical faculty member. In this role, he served as regional medical director of UVA’s independent outpatient dialysis program for six years, with a special focus on expanding access to patient education and home therapies. He has authored several book chapters and articles focusing on advanced kidney disease and dialysis. Currently a part time faculty member, he continues teaching medical and biomedical engineering students at UVA.  Dr. Bowman is active in national professional societies and a member of the Board of Directors of the Renal Physicians Association. He maintains a courtesy appointment in biomedical engineering and sees patients in Charlottesville, VA.
