Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread, 3/4" thick
  • 4 eggs
  • 1-1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400º F.
  2. Trim crust and cut bread in half diagonally.
  3. Beat egg slightly and add to almond milk.
  4. Pour oil into a skillet and heat.
  5. Dip bread into egg mixture. Fry in oil until brown on both sides.
  6. Place browned toast pieces on a hot, baking sheet. Cook for 4 minutes in the oven to puff the toast.
  7. Remove from oven and drain on paper towel if needed. Serve immediately with powdered sugar, syrup or jelly.
