Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose white flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups cold water
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix the first 5 ingredients in an ungreased 9” x 13” baking pan.
- Make 3 holes in the dry ingredients.
- Pour 2 tablespoons vinegar in one hole.
- Pour 3/4 cup oil in second hole.
- Pour 2 teaspoons vanilla in the third hole.
- Add 2 cups of cold water and mix.
- Bake for 30 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Helpful hints
- Great for cupcakes too! Pour 1/3 cup batter into each regular size cupcake liner to make 24 cupcakes.
- Cocoa processed with alkali, also known as Dutch chocolate, is much higher in potassium than natural cocoa powder.
